There’s an Iberia deal where Chicago-Madrid business class awards are 20% cheaper than usual if you book directly through Iberia. This makes pricing as low as 47.2k points each way for business class (vs. 59k points normally). Book by June 15 for travel by September 15. All details on Iberia’s site here.

Other cities have award deals too, but Chicago is the only one that has the discount for business class between the US and Madrid.

Summary discounts from North America cities here:

20% discount

  • Boston (BOS) - Economy

  • Dallas (DFW) - Economy

  • Washington, DC (IAD) - Economy

  • Chicago (ORD) - Business

  • San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU) - Economy

10% discount

  • Dallas (DFW) - Premium Economy

  • Miami (MIA) - Economy

Did you miss my last deal email?

ICYMI, yesterday I highlighted how there was fairly wide open award space between Philadelphia and Doha on Qatar Qsuites between September 2026 to early June 2027. It looks like there is now availability in August 2026 as well! Saver awards also appear to now be bookable through Alaska Airlines starting at 70k points as well (not in August though, idk why). American Airlines still not getting saver awards unless you mess around with some married segment logic.

Fly Iberia business class between Chicago and Madrid

Routes: ORD/MAD

Airline: Iberia

Programs to book with: British Airways, Iberia

Travel timeline: June to July 2026

Cost: 47.2k points when booked through Iberia or 59k points through British Airways

Transfer partners: American Express, Bilt, Capital One, Citi, Chase, Wells Fargo, Rove

Summary: Fly lie-flat business class on Iberia’s A330 or A350 (old version) between Chicago and Madrid. Availability for 9+ on some dates during peak summer travel season.

Why I like this deal: 1) Great cost, 2) Many dates have 2-9 seats, 3) Availability during peak summer travel season

Dates with 2+ business class seats

Many have 4-9+ seats as well

MAD-ORD
June: 27, 28, 30
July: 1-8, 11-23, 27

MAD-ORD
June: 17, 18, 23-27, 29
July: 3, 6-9, 14, 15, 17, 20, 23, 24, 26

Cost breakdown

Note: You can generally transfer points freely between airline programs that use Avios (Aer Lingus, British Airways, Finnair, Iberia, Qatar Airways). Use Avios.com to facilitate transfers. Names across programs need to generally match exactly. Some programs (Iberia and Qatar) also generally need your loyalty account open at least 90 days before moving points to another Avios program.

British Airways: 59k points + $138-150 in tax/fees each way. British Airways charges $55 for changes/cancellations. Note: May not be able to select seats if you book through BA until check-in.
Transfer Partners: Direct from Amex, Bilt, Capital One, Chase, Wells Fargo. Indirect from Citi and Rove

Iberia: 32k or 47.2k points depending on peak or off peak + $138-150 in tax/fees each way. Iberia charges €25 to change or cancel. All dates I found are peak pricing though.
Transfer Partners: Direct from Amex, Bilt, Chase, Wells Fargo. Indirect from Capital One, Citi, Rove

Transfer bonus: There’s a 30% transfer bonus when moving Citi → Qatar. This is actually offered from Qatar’s end. However, the bonus points likely won’t post immediately and could take a few days (terms indicate it could be end of the month as well)

How to search and book?

Manual search required. Here’s how to search on Iberia.

1) On the Iberia site, log into your account to search for award flights.

2) After logging in, input desired dates and destinations and choose the “Pay with Avios” option. Also choose your cabin as “Business”. Then hit search.

Source: Iberia

3) You should see what flights are available and the total cost. You can also click on the flight and it will show the tax/fees.

Source: Iberia

4) You can restart your search with the desired # of passengers to confirm availability is still showing. Then transfer your points to book!

Iberia business class experience

Iberia is using the A330 and A350 (old setup, sorry not the newer seats) on the ORD-MAD route.
