Sunday special!

Today is the end of the month. I wanted to send this weekly recap early because 1) Aeroplan devaluation is happening tomorrow and 2) Air France/KLM deal has an Amex Offer that expires today.

For Air Canada’s Aeroplan, there is a slight devaluation on many popular routes that will happen tomorrow June 1, 2026. Details can be found on my blog post here.

One of my favorite sweet spots, the East Coast-Europe award, on Air Canada Aeroplan will go up from 70k points→75k points tomorrow, a 7% increase. There is currently fairly wide open award availability this summer across Lufthansa Group airlines (Austrian, Brussels Airlines, Discover, Lufthansa, Swiss) if you are trying to book a last-minute trip to Europe. I think pretty much every day in June-August has a flight from North America-Europe at a saver rate. Check seats.aero free view (lets you view 60 days out) for some examples.

However, the beginning of the month also could bring a transfer bonus to Air Canada Aeroplan. It’s a gamble but maybe there’s a 20-30% bonus from a major credit card starting tomorrow. But maybe not!

This Amex offer also ends tonight and has historically worked with AF/KLM award fees.

Hyatt cardholders getting more perks?

Back in February, Hyatt announced they were going to make a few changes this year. This included the devaluation earlier this month and future enhancements for loyalty members and credit card holders getting a head start to booking award nights

Starting June 30, 2026, Hyatt loyalty members (Explorist and higher) and credit card holders (both personal & business) will be able to continue book hotel awards 13 months out, which will be a month head start vs. non loyalty members and credit card holders. This is more of a devaluation for non Hyatt CC holders & elite members as they can currently book 13 months out.

Will this make a difference? Maybe. Many hotels don’t even release award inventory a full year out so the perk won’t help.

Trend continues where loyalty programs *gasp*, reward their loyal members. This continues the trend where programs continue to shift perks to their elite members and/or credit card holders. United has more awards and better pricing for elite members + CC holders, Emirates limits first class awards to their elite members, IHG has fourth night free if you have select IHG credit cards. Expect this trend to continue as programs want you to be a captive audience in their ecosystem and reward their most captive audiences.

Chase Inks have elevated referrals

If you refer a new Chase business customer to sign up for a Chase Ink card, you can now get 40k Chase points yourself, up from 20k previously. Looks like the max points you can get per year was also bumped from 100k→200k.

Don’t forget that last October, Chase made it so it has to be a new Chase business customer. So your P2-P6 that you already referred won’t help you get more referral points.

If you have a P2-P100, now is a potentially good time to refer them. Or if you have friends also getting into the award travel space, maybe you can convince them as well. Anyone can sign up for a business card and you can sign up as a sole proprietor. Bloggers will claim they tell you not to lie to the bank until it comes time to convince you to sign up for a Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business card. Then your hypothetical once a year FB marketplace sale for a $15 book is a legit business and you should use their affiliate! Chase will still approve you for it though😉

New ANA Pokémon plane!

Hello fellow nerds. Japanese airline ANA announced they are celebrating the 30th Anniversary release of Pokemon Red and Green with commemorative plane liveries (ANA PR here). There is a 787-9 (Aircraft Number : JA923A) that will fly on international routes later this year. If we are luckier, it could even feature the new The Room FX which is expected to roll out later this year as well.

Off the top of my head, ANA flies the 787-9 between Tokyo Haneda and Seattle (SEA) and Houston (IAH). Maybe they will swap out the 787-8 between HND and Washington, DC (IAD) as well to the newer 787-9. All just speculation but DC is my home airport so plssss.

ANA will also have a 787-8 with a Pokemon Red livery that will fly domestic routes and a Pokemon Blue-themed plane on a 737-800 also for domestic routes.

Deal of the week

Fly Air France business class from various US cities to/from Europe. Pricing starts at 60k one-way in business class but comes with somewhat hefty taxes/fees ($350-600 each way).

Ease some of that pain away by using Amex offers that expire today May 31, 2026. The terms indicate flights have to start in the US, although Reddit data point indicates as long as you use the US website and pay in USD, it should work even if starting elsewhere.

This deal is a bit more unique and I can’t list all the dates as Air France/KLM have been releasing a lot of “married segment” saver awards in the last week, particularly from Europe back to the US. This means that to get the best pricing, you have to fly from European City→AMS/CDG→US Europe instead of making Amsterdam or Paris your final stop. More details on what married segment logic is and why airlines do it on One Mile at a Time.

FYI you can use the “calendar trick” to quickly find dates on AF/KLM metal. Leave the date option blank when searching to pull up calendar view. Details here on Frequent Miler

Married segment example.

If you were to only search the CDG-IAD segment, there are much fewer saver dates.

I started the idea of Find Flights for Me back in 2023 to help educate and inspire people to use their credit card points more effectively, with a focus on using points to fly business and first class flights.
