EgyptAir is expanding its North America presence with new routes to Los Angeles and Chicago. Both the ORD and LAX routes are 3x weekly. Flights are now bookable on both the LAX/CAI and ORD/CAI route including award flights. Thanks to /u/y2kbaby2 on Reddit for flagging the LAX availability.
Although EgyptAir isn’t the fanciest airline, the new routes are scheduled to be on brand new A350s with 30 lie-flat business class seats in a 1-2-1 layout. EgyptAir just took delivery of one plane last week but I couldn’t find much details on what type of seats they’ll install but Airbus uses the term “suites” in the description. However, be aware aircraft swaps could occur and you could end up in an older 777-300 with a 2-3-2 angle-flat seats. I was recently at Dulles which is generally serviced by the newer 787 with 1-2-1 lie-flats but noticed an EgyptAir 777 parked at the gate 😢

Cost breakdown
Air Canada: Starting at 90k points + $60-115 in tax/fees. Spend an extra 15k points to make the flight freely changeable/cancellable. Otherwise $75 CAD for changes and $150 CAD to cancel per ticket.
Transfer Partners: Amex, Bilt, Capital One, Chase
Tip: Pay another 5k points to use Aeroplan stopover program
ANA: Starting at 65k points + $245+ in tax/fees. 3k miles deducted for cancellations or 3k yen. Free changes.
Transfer Partners: Amex
Tip: Points transfers are never instant and can take up to 3 days
Avianca LifeMiles: Starting at 78k points + mystery tax/fees. Avianca won’t tell you how much tax/fees are until you check out. You can’t check out unless you have points in your account. It should be similar to Air Canada’s fees. You can also call to ask. There is a $150 change fee and $200 cancel fee for Avianca awards unless you have certain LifeMiles+ subscriptions (then it’s free).
Transfer Partners: Amex, Bilt, Capital One, Citi, Wells Fargo
Tip: Avianca has a 15% bonus for points transferred in from Amex making it only ~68k points to fly one way in business class.
How to search and book?
There’s no easy way to use a calendar view to find dates. You’ll have to manually search one day at a time on a program like Air Canada, ANA, or Avianca to find dates. Use an award search tool like Seats.Aero or Roame to find dates as well.

EgyptAir business class
The two new routes are currently planned to be serviced by EgyptAir’s new A350s. No details of what the seat could look like, although Airbus did hint it is a “suite” style seat. The seat map indicates it is a 1-2-1 layout. It may look similar to what their 787s have.
Additionally, EgyptAir is also a dry airline. So no alcohol on board.
